The week of March 8 seems like a lifetime ago. That week was, more or less, the last one in the U.S. where things still felt “normal.” It was certainly a completely different business environment, with veterinary and other retail healthcare practices – including dental, optometry and chiropractic (no different from restaurants, retail outlets and other small businesses having a steep revenue drop-off starting in mid-March.
Throughout the crisis, the one area where people are spending more money is on their pets. Early on, there were widespread reports about the increase in pet adoption, driven in part by people wanting the company of a dog or cat to keep them company during the shelter-in-place.
Despite COVID-19, U.S. Spending on Animals – Especially for Dental Procedures – Races Forward
Santa Clara, August 18, 2020: Sikka Software, a market leader in advancing retail healthcare connectivity, applications and insights, today announced the results of a months-long study into the veterinary industry about animal health during the COVID-19 crisis. Wow! Our API was again judged the best in Healthcare by the folks at API World. For the second time in the last 3 years. And, our company also made it into the top 300 innovators – across all categories. It did take a moment for that to sink in. The first time, perhaps a lucky strike. But that’s twice now. There’s no lobbying for those awards, and they had fancy criteria to go by when judging the winner. Clearly, we did well on them.
To us, however, it comes down to just one thing. We let you – our API partners – scale. We understand what you mean when you say, I want to serve all dentists, veterinarians, optometrists, audiologists, oral and orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons and I don’t want to be limited by the software they use to manage their hospital/practice and record the patient’s medical records. Without us, you would need to connect individually to the different software platforms used by each of the retail healthcare providers. It would be like learning 12 languages that are continuously changing. Actually, about 500 languages. You’d have to speak the language of each individual practice management software in the market. We cut it down to one. That’s what the One in Sikka One API is for. Your code for One API and you open yourself to a vast expanse of the market.
October 22, 2019 – Sikka Software, the leading platform and marketplace for retail healthcare, was awarded Best in Health APIs from the 2019 API World Awards. This is the second time Sikka Software has won this recognition for the company’s work in the booming health API industry.
Sikka, with its One API, is enabling retail healthcare providers to accelerate their digital transformation and adopt new and innovative solutions that enable them to better manage their practices. Sikka’s secure platform cloud connects to over 90% of practice management systems and provides a single access point where partners can build their apps. There are now over 50 unique apps powered by Sikka’s One API including apps that help practitioners increase productivity, patient retention, profitability and more.

Hi, welcome back to another episode of the Sikka Software podcast. Today we’re going to talk about using technology to enable closer doctor-patient relationships.
A strong doctor-patient relationship is crucial to ensuring positive health outcomes for your patients. A study by Health Services Research confirmed what common sense long suspected, that patients who feel that they have a strong relationship with their provider are more active in managing their own health. Psychology has long known that likability is a strong motivator in ensuring compliance. When patients like their providers, they are more likely to follow the provider’s advice and will have better health overall. Patients will also develop a sense of loyalty to their practice.
Welcome back to the Sikka Podcast! Here at Sikka we are passionate about bringing you tools and solutions that benefit your patients AND your practice. We have talked about some key metrics and features that you should pay extra attention to as a retail healthcare owner in the past few episodes. Today, we would like to focus on veterinary practices management specifically. We will walk you through 3 critical metrics or benchmarks for veterinarians, in order to help veterinary teams better monitor their practices and identify areas of strength and opportunities to grow.
